Be part of the exciting future of downtown Temple with this iconic three-story historic building, originally built in the 1910s and now undergoing significant renovations to blend its timeless character with modern functionality. Offering more than 16,000 square feet of adaptable space over three floors, this property is perfectly suited for new retail concepts, vibrant restaurants, innovative offices, or mixed-use spaces designed to serve a growing and dynamic community. With its central location, stunning architecture, and renewed potential, this building is ready to become a cornerstone of Temple’s next chapter.
According to the National Register of Historic Places, 17 East Central was constructed in the 1910s. Brady & Black Hardware operated out of the building from approximately 1912-1920. Historic records state that another company, Prairie Queen Tractor Company, was in the building at or around the same time. Later, the building was home to Dyer Department Store and the Secondhand Rose. The building sits at the corner of Central Avenue and 2nd Street, an intersection that has seen significant activity and renovation over the last few years.
The current renovation project is a comprehensive façade renovation that includes upgraded windows, new signage, and high-quality brick restoration. The project aims to preserve the historical character of this structure while contributing to the aesthetic, economic, and cultural revitalization of Downtown Temple.
The space can be built to suit, and we are actively working to identify potential tenants and uses for the building. This is a great opportunity to be part of Downtown Temple’s success as a business in one of its most iconic buildings.
